2.2 - 2.5: To strengthen and promote an evidence-based protection response, UNHCR and its partners have been implementing a protection monitoring exercise since May 2022 to regularly collect and analyze data about the profiles, needs and intentions of refugees from Ukraine and monitor changes over time. The exercise covers the following countries that have received refugees from Ukraine: Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.

Sample design - full information: Interviews were conducted throughout Slovakia, including 35% in transit centers, 15% in assistance points, 12% in border points, 9% in transport hubs and 8% in collective accommodation sites. Trained enumerators from UNHCR and partners digitally collect the data through Kobo Toolbox, which is safely stored in UNHCR server. While respondents are randomly selected to reduce bias, non-probability sampling is used and results cannot necessarily be extrapolated to the population of refugees from Ukraine as a whole.
