Representative of the population: Yes
Sample design - full information: As a first step neighbourhoods were sampled with probabilities proportional to the sum of second-generation Turkish and Moroccan neighbourhood residents. To determine how many neighbourhoods were to be sampled, the researchers decided a priori to set cluster size to 30 respondents (3 groups x 10 persons). Neighbourhood sampling was guided by the systematic selection method whereby a neighbourhood could be sampled more than once, depending on the number of second-generation Turkish and Moroccan residents. Effectively, cluster size was increased to a factor four (4 x 30 = 120 respondents). Initially, 6,000 addresses (= 4 x 1,500) were thus sampled from the municipal population registers. By the end of the fieldwork, non-response among second-generation respondents appeared higher than expected, so an additional 271 records were sampled from the registers
