However, it mentions the following: (a) sampling frames for the survey were developed using information collection during background research; the collected information was then used to construct sampling frames by establishing lists of primary sampling units (which varied from country to country). (b) In each country, the sampling frame was intended to reflect the diversity of the Roma groups in terms of community size and geographic distribution so that the survey results would be representative of their situation. 7.2: FRA developed the survey questionnaire, which Gallup Europe and its national fieldwork agencies then translated and used in face-to-face interviews in the different participating countries. (1) In 2011, two parallel and complementary Roma-targeted surveys were carried in the EU. The first survey, the Regional Roma 2011 survey (its unique ID in the EMM Survey Registry is RRS2011) was undertaken by the UNDP and the World Bank; the second survey, the Roma pilot survey 2011 (which corresponds to the survey covered in this record) was undertaken by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). (2) The survey methodology developed and used in the Roma pilot survey 2011 was a collaborative effort involving experts and partners specializing in Roma research. As such, the view of FRA is that the methodology for this survey can be used as a guide for future data collection efforts aimed at studying the situation of Roma in the EU.
