6 and 2.9: Prior to 2005, the Former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (including current Serbia and Montenegro) participated in MICS. The first reported date in which the Former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia participated in MICS is 1996, whereas the first reported date in which current Montenegro participated in MICS is 2006. 2.8: Since 1996, there has been 6 waves of the MICS. In 2013 and 2018, in addition to the normal survey (designed to have a nationally representative sample), there was additional survey conducted with a separate sample of Roma settlements. As such, the 2013 and 2018 waves should be understood as covering/including 2 separate surveys: 1 that has the nationally representative sample and 1 that has a sample of Roma settlements. For Montenegro, only the 2013 and 2018 surveys conducted with Roma settlements had a confirmed EMM sample size of 300+ respondents; therefore, the other survey for 2013 and 2018 plus the other waves for Montenegro have not been included in the EMM Survey Registry

Representative of the population: Yes
Sample design - full information: Based on the 2011 Montenegro Population Census, EAs with at least one Roma household were identified (in total 201 EAs). Out of these EA, 33 EAs that had 10 or more Roma households were selected. Since the sampling frame (the 2011 Population Census) was not up to date, a new listing of households was conducted in 33 sample enumeration areas prior to the selection of households. In order to increase the sample size for the Roma households and ensure a sufficient number of children in smaller subgroups related to certain indicators, 30 Roma households were selected in EAs where 30 or more Roma households are identified in the listing. In the case of EAs with less than 30 Roma households, they were all included in the sample, regardless of whether or not they have children under 5. In the case of EAs with 30 or more Roma households and at least 12 of these have children under 5, 12 Roma households with children and 18 households without children were selected. Where there were fewer than 12 Roma households with children under 5, all of them were selected and then the remaining households were selected from those without children under 5 to sum up to 30 households. Based on the distribution of the Roma households in the frame, this sampling approach resulted in the final sample (685 Roma households)
